Northcote (bridal suite).

Named Northcote after Walter Stafford Northcote, the second Earl who lived at Pynes House, you’ll find the wedding suite at the top of the main stairs, overlooking the rose terrace and fountain. With a backdrop of the rolling Devonshire hills.

Iddesleigh.

Welcome to the Iddesleigh Suite, a regal retreat featuring a comfortable king-size bed and an ensuite with a shower. Located at the top of the grand staircase, this is the first room you’ll encounter, setting the tone for an unforgettable stay. The suite overlooks our meticulously manicured gardens and expansive lawn, offering a serene and tranquil environment. Its windows frame unparalleled views of the surrounding beautiful woodland, making it a perfect place to unwind and soak in the natural beauty of our exclusive wedding venue.

Copleston.

The Coplestone Suite, named to honor the influential Copleston family who inherited the Pynes Estate in the 17th century, is steeped in history and charm. This suite serves as a tribute to Sir Copleston, Sheriff of Devon, who was knighted by Oliver Cromwell for his dedication during the English Civil War. Situated in a light and airy corner of the house, the suite boasts a luxurious super king bed and an ensuite featuring both a bath and a separate shower.

What truly sets the Coplestone Suite apart are its four expansive windows, which offer mesmerizing views of the lush gardens and the gently flowing river.

Stafford.

This room was named after Hugh Stafford, the owner who built the original parts of the present house in 1700, creating Pynes House as we now know it.

Believed to have been the very room which Queen Victoria stayed in during her visit to Pynes House, it’s for this that this bedroom has been named Stafford. Boasting views of the treelined driveway, with the rolling hills beyond, it’s a pretty special piece of history.

The suite boasts a luxurious super king bed and shares a bathroom, equipped with a bath and separate shower, with the adjoining Du Pin room.

Du Pin.

The Du Pin Suite, with its historical roots deeply embedded in the heritage of Pynes House, offers a glimpse into the estate’s Norman origins. Named after the Du Pin family, who arrived in England from Aquitaine with the court of Henry II, this suite embodies the legacy of these knights of the Royal Court. Granted land by King John near Upton Pyne in Devon, the Du Pin family made this area their home for ten generations, weaving their history into the fabric of the local landscape.

This suite can be configured with either a super king bed or twin beds, making it exceptionally versatile and ideal for guests with children. It shares a well-appointed bathroom, featuring both a bath and a separate shower, with the adjacent Stafford Suite.

Larder.

Another corner room, the Larder bedroom looks out onto the rose terrace on one side and the long driveway on the other. While this room had actually been converted into a (quite enormous) bathroom when we first arrived at Pynes House in 2011, we restored it back to the beautifully light and airy stately home bedroom which it once was.

Similarly to Copleston, the Larder family was one of the families which the Pynes estate passed to, at the end of the 15th Century. The Larder bedroom features a comfortable king bed and an ensuite with a shower, providing a perfect blend of historical charm and modern comfort.

Chambers.

The Chambers bedroom offers a king bed and an ensuite with both a bath and separate shower. Its charming balcony provides views of Stoke Woods and the beautiful rose gardens below. A favorite for wedding preparations, the balcony also serves as a perfect spot for group photos during the morning excitement.

Charles.

Charles features a king bed and a private bathroom with a separate shower. Guests in Charles enjoy lovely views of the tree-lined driveway, providing a tranquil setting that pairs beautifully with the room’s elegant and understated decor.

Tilley.

Located on the top floor, Tilley offers a king bed and an ensuite with a bath and separate shower. This room, styled by interior designer Holly Keeling, retains the original character of the house while incorporating modern luxuries, part of a major refurbishment to revive the space’s historic charm.

Fassnidge.

The Fassnidge bedroom, with a king bed and ensuite shower, overlooks the bell tower and central courtyard. Its pale colour scheme and exposed natural beams create a soothing atmosphere that invites relaxation.

Bauer.

This room can be configured with either a superking or twin beds and shares a bathroom (shower only) with the Foley room. Positioned at the end of the corridor, Bauer boasts expansive views of the surrounding woodland and gardens, enhancing its serene ambiance.

Foley.

Also available as a superking or twin setup, Foley shares a bathroom with the Bauer room. Like Bauer, Foley offers extensive views of the lush gardens and is steeped in history, evident from the service bells that remain as a feature from the past.
